High school curriculum choices in South Africa cover a sizable range of subjects and programs for students. These choices typically include core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Science, and Social Sciences, along with elective subjects: Arts, Physical Education, Business Studies and many others. All curriculums aim to provide a well-rounded education and prepare students for further studies or future careers.
Additionally, South Africa offers specialized schools with unique curricula, such as technical, vocational, or arts-focused schools, catering to students with specific talents and interests and promote career aspirations. Most schools offer career guidance and child therapy to better prepare students/learners for their futures. An increasing number of prominent schools are adding extra-curricular classes and activities such as, woodworking, robotics, clubs and cooking with boarding schools seemly leading the charge.
Such classes have been absent from the South African Government School circuits for a number of years. Some schools are still under strain to finance there core obligations, with limited input from the state.
